Throughout his childhood, LeBron and his mother struggled financially and often had to move to different apartments in order to get by. When he was 9 years old, LeBron asked to live with his football coach, Frank Walker, and his family. His mother allowed him to move and soon after, LeBron ended up playing basketball for the Northeast Ohio Shooting Stars.
He grew to be friends with his basketball team and they chose to go to St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, which was a predominantly white high school. Throughout the time he attended this school he played basketball, winning many games for the school's team. Their team was able to travel to games around the country and was even offered pay-per-view games on television from ESPN. His mother fully supported his career throughout high school and even purchased him a Hummer H2 for his 18th birthday.
